Abkehr emerged from Northern Germany in 2015 as a two-piece, founded by Raash and H. and has since evolved into a full four-piece band, expanding the project’s sonic scope while retaining the stark emotional core that defined its origins.

Rooted in black metal but unconcerned with rigid stylistic boundaries, Abkehr’s music moves between austere minimalism and vast, atmosphere-driven compositions.

Their sound is built on repetition, tension and slow-burning escalation, combining harsh immediacy with a sense of depth and introspection.

Between 2017 and 2021, Abkehr released a trilogy of albums through various labels — In Asche (2017), In Feuer (2019), and In Blut (2021).

Across these records, the band traced a thematic arc of dissolution, transformation and confrontation with the darker strata of the human condition.

In 2026, Abkehr return with their fourth full-length album, … dem Willen zur Macht, und dem Vergessen. — once again released through Vendetta Records. Expanding upon the foundations of the trilogy, the album continues the band’s exploration of existential weight, atmosphere and relentless sonic intensity.
